To the Zyrv community,
It has recently come to my attention that a community associated with one of our affiliates has recently been subjected to an attack involving the utilisation of their Private Messaging system for the purposes of spreading viruses to its membership.
I do not fully know all the details and it's extremely unlikely that the same thing will occur to Zyrv; However, as a precautionary measure, there's a few things I'd like to remind you all about and ask of you all.
* Remember to use your best judgment regarding any emails, email notifications and/or private messages you receive from anywhere you may receive them, from Zyrv and elsewhere alike if it looks suspicious, do not save it, do not click it and do not open it. This is common sense in all online practices these days, and most people that have had any experience online will already know this, but it can't hurt to be reminded every so often.
* Where Zyrv is concerned, keep an eye out for anything claiming to be from a "Lady Admin" or "LadyROOT" if you spot such email notifications or private messages, delete them straight away and notify a member of staff, and generally, if you happen to receive anything suspicious from Zyrv, please let myself or one of the other staff know about it and we will take care of it.
* Though it does happen on the odd occasion, generally, external links are not common to private messages or emails sent from Zyrv. If you receive messages or emails from Zyrv with external links included, be very cautious about clicking on them by way of being external, the resource that the link points to can't be guaranteed and may potentially be malicious. Internal links are generally safe, but, do be aware that external links can be disguised as internal links, so generally, you should be cautious of all links included in such messages and emails. Ofcourse, this generally applies to such messages and emails regardless of where they are from.
* If you receive an email claiming to be an announcement from Zyrv, remember that anouncements sent through email are simply direct copies of what has been posted in the "News Thread", and therefore, if its not there, it's probably a fake this can be confirmed by checking the thread.
* If you receive an email or private message claiming to be from any particular person, if you have any doubts, simply asking the person, "did you send this", is, though not fool-proof, a fairly reliable way of double-checking.
* At this time, Zyrv has two Administrators, myself and another, going by the names of, respectively, Maikuolan and Spazzen. If you receive anything from Zyrv claiming to be from a Zyrv Administrator, if its not one of us, then, it's claim is false.
Thank you for reading.
Kind Regards,
Maikuolan.
